Dates confirmed for 2012 Open

The first round of the 2012 Open will be played at Belmont Links Wanganui Golf Club on the 31st of March, tee-times to be confirmed but will be approx 1pm. The final round will be kicked off at New Plymouth Golf Club at 10am on Sunday the 1st of April.

Plan to fly into Wanganui on Saturday morning and out of New Plymouth on Sunday afternoon. Accommodation will be booked in New Plymouth for the Saturday night and a tournament dinner will be held at a nice restaurant. Unlike the HIO, if you want to have a quiet night after dinner on Saturday you are all clear, if you want to go out on the town and make merry then you're all good. Freedom of choice rules at the Open with the exception of the format for the tournament which will be announced as soon as I have decided what is going to favour me most.

Strong interest registered so don't miss out. More details to follow when available.

McWilliams takes the 2011 Open!!

The darkest horse to ever grace the event rose from the ashes of many a shabby campaign to take the tourney from overnight leader Martin Keane. Following on from a chicken winning bonanza at Hauraki, Stevie chucked out a combined 76 stabies. No one had any answer for the man with the most questionable handicap in golf.

A big night on the curries had most of the boys producing extreme levels of methane but average levels of golf. Darcy fought hard to retain the wooden spoon in what can only be described as one of the most impressive sub-20 stabie efforts witnessed. Huge thanks to the Spicer's for their wonderful hospitality. Stevie also took out the inaugural (and final) curry contest. Stevie's 'Rendang in a sachet' proved too tasty for the judges to overlook despite stiff competition from Marty's mussels, Simon's vegetable curry and Adi's butter chicken drumstick.

Adi to organise the 2012 Open. Information to follow.
